Pure-play Wi-Fi chipset vendor Quantenna last week released ‘ViSiON’ – a Wi-Fi analytics tool designed to speed up time-to-market for new in-home Wi-Fi solutions and features. The company says the tool will fast-track higher quality Wi-Fi development and deployment for service providers and gateway manufacturers.
Getting a handle on Wi-Fi performance
Wi-Fi technology and features are evolving faster than ever. That’s why shortening the time-to-market for Wi-Fi-capable home gateway products and routers is essential, says Ambroise Popper, Quantenna’s VP of Strategy & Corporate Marketing.
“We’ve designed ViSiON as a Cloud-based analytics engine that will be indispensable through multiple phases of new product development and deployment, from lab to field,” Ambroise Popper says. ViSiON has already been deployed in some 10 million Wi-Fi nodes worldwide, Quantenna says.
Popper is also careful to point out that ViSiON is not an end-user commercial Cloud-service product for service providers, but a development tool. “Our mission with ViSiON is simply to assist our clients in developing better Wi-Fi gateways faster,” Popper says. For more about ViSiON, click here.
The road to 802.11ax
Quantenna was the world’s first chipset vendor to announce 802.11ax availability in late 2016, and has since released various updates to the technology, including a dual-band 802.11ax Wi-Fi/PON gateway platform and a solution for 802.11ax mesh.
Popper says the Draft Release 3.0 of the 802.11ax standard will be ready this May. He expects the first 802.11ax-capable handset by a major manufacturer to be released in April of next year.
